In rural Maharashtra, India, where women traditionally focus on household chores and childcare, the ‘Promoting Entrepreneurship, Employment opportunities and increased Incomes’ programme, an HSBC-funded project, is empowering women to become micro-entrepreneurs. This film tells the story of several women who, with the help of WOTR’s (Watershed Organization Trust) training and support, overcame societal barriers and their families’ doubts to grab opportunities, educate their children, and establish thriving businesses.
Through the project’s interventions, these women gained financial independence, improved their families’ well-being, and became role models for other women in their communities.
These women’s inspiring stories demonstrate the transformative power of investing in women’s economic empowerment and the ripple effects it can have on families and communities.
